The population of camels in the wild is thought to be decreasing rapidly, with approximately 600 in China and only 350 in Mongolia. Threats come from wolves and humans who hunt the camels for subsistence and strangely sport. Competition for habitat with conflicts with livestock is damaging much of Mongolia, where the camels roam.
