Child's Wonderment

Child's Wonderment

A signed 14 colour screenprint published by Fieldborne Galleries.
From the edition of 95.

Printed at the Curwen Studios.

From the 1975 oil of the same title housed in Doncaster Art Gallery.

Carel Weight was born in London to a German mother. He always said that he had a lonely childhood which was full of dreams of ghosts, and that sense of the supernatural in the everyday is apparent in many of his paintings. The posture of the child in this image is reminiscent of Edvard Munch's The Scream. For many years Weight was professor of painting at the Royal College of Art, London.

Second image shows the recommended framing for this work. A square oak frame, with an acid free window mount. Approx frame size: 85 x 84 cm
