Printed by Fernand Mourlot in Paris in 1963, this is the very first lithograph that René Magritte made. Magritte came late to printmaking, in his early 60s, and there are only 20 prints listed in the catalogue raisonné of his graphic work. Of these only 6 were printed from lithographic stones or etching plates upon which Magritte had worked directly, making Les Bijoux Indiscrets a very important print.
