A limited edition circular, wooden, inlaid tray.
This a facsimile of one designed by Gaudier-Brzeska for the Omega workshop in 1913.
The original was initially acquired by the artist C.R.W. Nevinson and is now in the collection of the V & A Museum.
This small edition of 45 only have been made under licence from the V&A. Copper plaque inlaid verso, centre: Henri Gaudier-Brzeska 1891-1915, Centenary Edition, Wrestlers and the edition number. Omega stamp outside edge.
The original design by Gaudier-Brzeska was realised by John Joseph Kallenborn, an Omega craftsman whose skills and knowledge of the natural colour and patina of different wood veneers give the tray its distinctive characteristics. The mahogany carcase is inlaid with Andaman Padauk oak, walnut and ebonized wood.
