Jane and Helen
Signed and numbered PP 1/4 in pencil, coloured lithograph.
Printer's Proof from the personal archive of Stanley Jones.
In late 2001 and early 2002, Rego worked with Stanley Jones at the Curwen Studio. She produced a series of 25 lithographs based on Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.
'While Rego is never, not even in Peter Pan, prone to sentimentality, there is in this lithograph, and its central image of the two girls on the bed, at least a semblance of Victorian sadness and sweetness... it is a rather charming study of two girls who care deeply for each other.' T.G. Rosenthal, Paula Rego The Complete Graphic Work, 2003
Bears the blind stamp for the archive of Stanley Jones.
Framing:
This lithograph has been lovingly framed by hand in the Goldmark Framing Workshop, in tulip wood moulding with dark oak stain and a dark oak wax. Float mounted using conservation mount, with all fully reversible hinges, set back from the glazing with a painted white obeche fillet. It is finished with AR70 non-reflective glazing, which protects the work from 70% of UV rays and gives the image remarkable clarity.
