Poseidon No. 2
Monogrammed letter carving on oak with acrylic paint.
This is a more developed version of the Poseidon theme, designed either to hang or to stand on its rotating feet. The longer quotation from Rupert Brooke's (1887-1915) poem Seaside reflects the rather irregular stress pattern in the verse. When read aloud, stressed syllables tend to fall while unstressed ones rise. Though partly obscured by the lines of modern verse, the old God maintains a presence: the ocean remains unquiet.
