Signed driftwood assemblage.
In ornithology: Vagrant. Any individual bird outside the normal wintering and breeding area.
After the third exhibition at Goldmark, June 2022, Jo suggested I use some of the largest/heaviest pieces of driftwood while I still had the strength to manhandle them. Three such items are used in this composition. Strongly contrasting head and body, mounted upon a magnificently sea-sculpted breakwater post, decapitated in the great storm of 2013 when our village was evacuated. The effect on wildlife was far-reaching. Disorientating, bewildering, devastating. We had known of a cream coloured courser from North Africa resting up in Radnorshire. A golden eagle living some years in Ceredigion. And the snowy owl that landed on the Scillies. Here is my 'Vagrant'.
