'Europa and the Bull (1946) — the other erotic sculpture among this group of works — takes as its subject the encounter of Zeus in the form of a bull, with the daughter of a legendary king of Tyre. The warm brown patina of this piece enhances the intimacy of the embrace, as the bull nuzzles Europa’s left breast. But it’s pretty mild stuff, and offers scant justification for holding it on a charge of impropriety as the American Customs did when it was sent over to the USA for exhibition.'
