'Reassuringly Dobson did not entirely relinquish his well-covered female forms, as another late sculpture, Seated Leaning Figure of 1953, clearly demonstrates. This unique terracotta, now superbly cast in bronze with golden shadows, delivers an unusual and slight uncomfortablelooking pose, to which the girl’s body responds, bulging compensatingly. It’s an odd and imaginative variation on Dobson’s various sitting and leaning figures made over the years and reminds us that he continued to break new ground, even in his later period.'
