Note especially horizontal lines on chest immediately below the ruffed collar, making an effect as of a cast shadow of the collar right across the chest. Regular vertical shading added at top of plate directly above sitter's head, (Barnard).Modern: Basan ( State VI in the first editions of the Recueil, further rework in later editions).
