The amazing ridges and facets produced by the log-splitting machine are remarkable and, in Martin's experience, unique. The smooth, rounded under-bark surface was, in contrast, almost featureless, so it was decided to use colour over all of it. The acrylic was applied with an oak leaf shaped stamp.
